Step 4 ... Containment

After all the pieces are carefully placed on the batt, netting is used to protect the surface, keeping all the pieces in their places.

Tulle net is is put over the surface of the layout and basted through all layers through to the net on the bottom. This protection will keep the final piece uniform in thickness and will prevent some movement.

In spite of all that careful containment, movement is inevitable and adds delightful serendipitous fluidity to each piece. I call that Happy Accidents.
